MEMBERSHIP CATAGORIES
Membership of the IAG is open to all those with an
interest
in the analysis of geological and environmental materials and
is available in the following categories:
- Voting members.
Individuals usually possessing a university degree or equivalent
qualification in an appropriate field and having six years relevant
experience and be practising in the profession.
- Associate members.Individuals
who share and support the aims of the IAG. Associate members enjoy the
full benefits of membership of the Association but may not vote in
elections.
- Student members.Individuals
studying for a university degree or equivalent qualification in an
appropriate subject. Student members enjoy the full benefits of
membership of the Association but may not vote in elections.
Applications for student membership must be endorsed by the student's
supervisor or Head of Department.
- Corporate members.Organizations
and companies that support the aims of the IAG. Corporate membership
entitles such organizations and companies to nominate up to two
individuals who may enjoy the same benefits as voting members of the
Association.
What is the IAG?
The IAG is an international forum for the advancement of
geoanalytical
science. It promotes the interests and supports the professional needs
of those involved in the analysis of geological and environmental
materials.
MISSION
To serve as an international forum for the advancement of
geoanalytical
science, and to promote the interests and support the professional
needs of those involved in the analysis of geological and environmental
materials.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- To serve as a forum for the advancement of
geoanalytical science
- To promote the interests and professional standing of
members
- To promote research into new methods of sampling and
analysis
- To organize conferences and meetings and to act as the main
sponsor of the Geoanalysis series of conferences
- To encourage younger scientists in the profession and their
participation in meetings
- To improve and promote the assessment of measurement
uncertainty and data quality as fit for purpose through proficiency
testing and the development and use of reference materials
- To encourage and facilitate the publication of members'
contributions in Geostandards Newsletter: The Journal of
Geostandards and Geoanalysis and elsewhere
- To disseminate information of interest to members
